Deleting your account and data

This page explains how to delete an account in the Monsieur François app and what then happens to the data. The app is provided by Joanna Wargalla, ul. Zawiszy 4 lok. 1, 01-167 Warszawa, Poland.

In the app — immediately

Open the Monsieur François app, go to Settings, choose “Delete account” and confirm with your password — or, if the account was created with Google or Apple and has no password, by signing in with Google or Apple again. The account and its data are erased at once and for good.

Without the app

Write from the email address the account was created with to privacy@monsieurfrancois.app, with the subject “Account deletion”. We delete the account and its data without undue delay, within one month at the latest, and confirm it by email. If the message comes from a different address, we first ask for confirmation that the account belongs to the sender.

What we delete

The account (name, email address, password hash, age, gender, link to a Google or Apple account), sessions and codes, synced learning progress, your own word list, the Louis d’or balance and history (purchased Louis d’or included), exam history, purchase records in our database, AI and François Live data, notification tokens, parental consent records, the data of the friends leaderboard, leagues, Défi and referrals, and the record of accepting the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

What stays

For every Louis d’or pack credited, a one-way hash (SHA-256) of the store transaction number stays, with the store and the date, without the account, product or amount — so that the same pack can never be credited twice. This record is deleted automatically 3 years after the transaction. Database backups that may still contain the data are deleted within 30 days. Google and Apple also keep purchase data under their own rules. Deleting the account does not cancel a subscription — do that in the subscription settings of Google Play or the App Store.

Deleting some of the data

You can ask for specific data to be deleted without deleting the account at privacy@monsieurfrancois.app. In the app itself you can also leave the friends leaderboard and leagues (the profile is then erased), delete words from your own list and switch notifications off (the notification token is then removed from our server).
